Climate DInner #2: Alternative proteins and food

Topic: Alternative proteins and decarbonising food

Location: New York, NY

Date: March 5th

Registration Link: private invite event! reach out to hvsanghi@gmail.com if you want to join :)

Goals: Food production and consumption is one of the largest driver of climate change. The agri-value chain is also one of the largest drivers of global employment of economy. While we have seen the emergence of new food startups in the last decade, they seem to have hit a glass ceiling with adoption of alternative proteins starting to flatline. This dinner, we bring together investors, policy makers, and operators in the space to talk alt proteins and sustainable food.

Post event notes: We had 9 attendees who work in the food space. We ate at one of NY’s best vegan restaurant’s and had a really fun time trying new vegan options. A lot of our discussion was around cultivated meat, where one of our founders is building the future of bio-reactors to scale cultivated meats. There was also great consensus on solid-state fermentation being the future of scalable fermentation-based products (like kimchi, yogurt, tempeh, etc which are all examples of solid state fermentation). Stay tuned for more detailed notes..
